Dear Rich and John,
Here is a copy of an email I just sent to Rich Mendola and John Ellinger about problems with Euclid and Discover-E.
Dear Rich and John,
Greetings--I wanted to thank you both for the time you spent on the phone with me last week regarding problems using Euclid and Discover-E. I was grateful for your interest in the problems. I thought I would pass along a representative assignment so that you can see how intensively my students use the library in the opening days of the semester. The infamous “Library Scavenger Hunt” is at the end of the syllabus. I…

MOVE THE SUPPORT AND FEEDBACK BUTTON
I am actively frustrated by this service because of the location of the support and feedback button. I hit this button constantly. When are you going to move it to another spot??? I emailed about this before, and heard that you all were "working on it" which was about six months ago.

give the option to sort by date-oldest
While most research requires looking for the newest information, in specialized areas of study, sometimes you want the oldest and most original texts/items. Thus, being able to sort by date-oldest would be helpful.

reconfigure new library catalogue system
I am a faculty member, and I have just spent 25 (!) minutes trying to add a single DVD item to my reserves list. I "discovered" (pun intended) that neither Discover E or Euclid is tied directly to the reserves system. This has produced enormously time consuming and awkward "solutions" to what is clearly a design flaw. I finally was reduced to calling the reserves librarian directly--.
Discover E makes it very hard to determine whether a specific item is actually in the catalogue. That would seem to be a big problem. Also a big problem, to reiterate, is that…4 votes -
improvements to DiscoverE
Thanks for your hard work on making this search system better! Here are my thoughts:
1) If DiscoverE pulls up an item, it needs to be really clear if Emory holds an item or not. It should say whether it does or does not.2) It should be as easy to locate a single book with a known title on DiscoverE as on Euclid. Example: A professor recommended a book called "Religion of the Gods." For some reason I couldn't figure out if it was lost or checked out (never mind that). Anyway, I asked one of the lib techs…

move support and feedback tab
it is really annoying and invades my ability to see what I need to in a catalog detail

Make it REALLY obvious when something is checked out.
If something I'm searching for is checked out, I'd appreciate the results saying 'checked out' instead of 1/1. It would be a lot less confusing.

Do something about printing the catalog record
I had an older patron here with a printout of the full view of a catalog record (for Prehistoric Rock Art by Paul Bahn) in which the text was so small that she could barely read it - especially the call number. I suggested printing only the brief display - and it was even smaller and grayer and almost totally useless. Let's do something about this. Please.

Let me get a list of new books in Latin American Studies (or any other discipline)
In EUCLID, it was apparently too difficult to accomplish this when faculty asked for it. Is it possible to do this in Primo?
